Lucille represents that little girl in every woman, the fighter and go-getter who are underestimated. Lucille is the girl in all women who want to be heard and who have the inner strength to stand up and be assertive. the rain and dark clouds represent world calamity, however, Lucille is steadfast, resolute and assertive to her playmates. The art piece portrays a significant change in society that is depicted by the girl's strength and confidence.
Her Gold Coin

This painting portrays inner strength that empowers women. This painting shows the hand of a migrant woman farmer who not only works hard in the fields but also for her family at home. The gold coin represents women, the rust on the gold coin represents on-going women's' struggles, tests, and obstacles where society underestimated women but is slowly disappearing and this symbolizes women's plight for equality. women have become refined, as silver is refined and have gone throughout many tests and struggles as gold is tested.
